Connect satellite TV receiver, DVD Recorder/VCR Combo, TV and audio receiver

This connection involves an older satellite receiver, TV, DVD/VCR recorder combo and older audio receiver.

Components:

o Audio Receiver with Dolby Pro Logic only
o DirecTV satellite Receiver
o Standard VHS stereo VCR and DVD Recorder.
o TV
o Audio/Video RCA cables (1-yellow, 1-red & 1-white audio).
o RF coaxial cables (RG-6).

Cables Connections and explanation:

A Satellite TV service is used to receive TV programs.

1. Connect Audio/Video cables (yellow, white and red) from satellite TV box output to DVD/VCR inputs (yellow, white, red). When recording, select LINE INPUT using remote for DVD/VCR box.

2. Connect yellow video cable from DVD/VCR output to TV Input (yellow). Select proper TV Input to view using remote for TV.

3. Connect audio RCA cables (white, red) from Audio OUT on DVD/VCR recorder to A/V inputs on Audio Receiver. Use AUX, CD or other but NOT phono.

4. Connect RF coaxial cable from satellite box OUT TO TV to TV VHF input. Select channel 3 or 4 on TV.

What settings do you need for this configuration?
The TV, VHS recorder and DVD recorder will need to be set to the proper input depending on your source. Select proper input source on the TV to watch VHS, DVD or TV. Select proper input source on VCR to record TV. The input sources can be selected usually by using the remote control buttons for the respective devices. Buttons such as LINE or VIDEO or AUX or INPUT SELECT or an actual channel such as 93 or 00 or 99 depending on your brand. Consult owner's manual here.


When turned ON, the DVD/VCR will output on the three RCA cables to the TV and audio receiver. Set the TV to LINE input to view the DVD/VCR output. Use INPUT SELECT or VIDEO or AUX button on the TV remote control to select the proper input source.

Select proper LINE INPUT to record on the DVD recorder or the VCR.
