HD resolution must be 720p, 1080i or 1080p in order to get High Definition. 480i is standard old TV and 480p is called EDTV, a notch below HDTV. Consult your owner's manual for both the cable box and HDTV to learn how to setup for High-Def viewing. HDMI carries both video and audio and is all digital.
