Network Configuration on a Windows PC

Ethernet Connection

In the Windows Search bar (bottom left) type cmd and press enter to bring up the command prompt. Type ipconfig/all and press enter to view information about your PC network connection.

IPCONFIG shows all information about the network adapters including IP addresses (IPv4 and IPv6), Domain Name System (DNS) settings, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocols (DHCP), and Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) / Internet Protocol (IP) values, Default Gateway and more.

Windows 10

1. In the Search bar (lower left) type control panel and press enter.
2. Click on Network and Sharing Center.
3. Click on Change Adapter Settings on the left.



4. Right click on the adapter and go to Properties and select.
5. Select Internet Protocol Version TCP/IP.
6. Click on Properties.

Select Obtain IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically or enter a specific DNS server address such as 8.8.8.8 which is the primary public DNS (Domain Name System) server operated by Google.







FOR DHCP (dynamic assigned IP) click on Obtain IP address automatically



For Static assigned IP address, click on USE the following IP address and fill in the IP address, subnet mask etc.
Fill in DNS IP address for your domain name server(s).
CLICK OK
