What settings do you need for this configuration?

Cable configuration explanation

The RF coax cable signal from the satellite TV company (dish antenna) is available to the converter box (RG-6 coaxial).
Since satellite channels are scrambled, you need the proprietary converter box.

HDMI cable OUT from SAT box connects to one of the HDTV HDMI INPUTs. The HDMI cable can carry high-definition video and up to 8 channel audio. Not all TV shows are high definition.

Not all TV shows have Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound.

The DVD/VHS recorder has composite audio/video input and can record only NTSC up to 500 lines but has up-conversion. The satellite box is connected to the DVD recorder using the composite audio/video cables. Connect to the DVD recorder's composite audio/video INPUTs. Connect HDMI cable from DVD/VHS recorder HDMI OUTPUT to the second HDMI INPUT on the HDTV to provide video and audio from recordings on DVD or VHS. (Not true High Definition since recorder cannot record in HD, however, will up-convert)
