Connect your DVD and Satellite TV to your Digital TV and A/V Receiver.
Hookup Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound

Components:

o Satellite TV signal source IN.
o Digital TV set.
o One RG-6 RF coaxial cable.
o Two sets of RCA Audio cables (1-red & 1-white audio).
o One HDMI cable.
o One Component video cable.
o Two coaxial digital audio cables.
o Digital Satellite converter box.
o One Audio/Video receiver with Dolby Digital 5.1 decoding.

In this example the DVD player will use a component video connection to the TV while surround sound from the DVD-Video is output to the A/V receiver. The satellite TV programs are output to the TV using a HDMI audio/video cable while any Dolby Digital 5.1 shows are sent to the A/V receiver for decoding and amplification so the loudspeakers can give a richer audio presentation.

Another option, if your Audio/Video receiver has HDMI inputs/output, would be to connect the satellite HDMI output to the A/V receiver's HDMI input, but then you would need another HDMI cable to connect the A/V receiver's HDMI output to the HDTV's HDMI input. (HDMI cables do not have to cost you very much. Check www.monoprice.com for very modest costs on HDMI cables and digital audio cables)
