The streaming device communicates to the router and out to internet providers. An APP or software that executes on your TV stick allows the provider to give you content and also to charge you if they want to. Their APP must be compatible with your gear. Smart TV and Fire TV Stick Internet Streaming from Internet on TV By streaming content, you decide what and when to view, unlike cable or satellite TV. You choose what content and when you watch. Some content requires a paid subscription. Other content is free. FIRE TV STICK You need home internet service with a wireless router and a TV. Your TV can be a SONY or a SAMSUNG or any modern TV with HDMI. Then with the Fire TV stick you can stream movies, sports, news and more from internet content providers like Netflix and Hulu and YouTube. With a newer TV simply plug the Fire TV Stick into an available HDMI input port on the TV. For older TVs, you need an adapter which converts HDMI to RCA and for even older TVs, you need an RF modulator to convert RCA to RF (channel 3 or 4) There are currently four different Fire TV Stick models being sold. The Fire TV Stick Lite is the cheapest model at $29.99, while the regular Fire TV Stick goes for $39.99. The more expensive Fire TV Stick 4K usually costs 49.99, while the Fire TV Stick 4K Max is the most expensive model at $54.99. You don’t need to pay a monthly fee to use a Fire TV Stick. Once you pay for the device, you can use it to stream movies and TV shows for free. However, it will cost money if you want to use the most popular streaming services. Setup Fire TV Stick Plug the Fire TV Stick into your TV's HDMI input port and then power it on by plugging the included power adapter into a wall outlet. For an older TV using HDMI adapter Put batteries in your Fire TV Stick's remote. Power ON TV and select the HDMI input the Fire TV stick is connected to using the TV remote. SOURCE INPUT HDMI 3 for example. Grab the remote for the Fire TV Stick and pair it to the TV. Press and hold the HOME button for about 10 secs. Then, Press PLAY button. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your Fire TV Stick. You'll be asked to connect your Fire TV Stick to your Wi-Fi, as well as create or sign in to your Amazon account. You'll be able to set your preferred language. Select and press OK button. Once you've set up your Fire TV Stick, you can start using it right away. Choose your streaming services. Select the app you want and download the app. For example Netflix. Each app has their own requirements such as signon and payments. How to Get to Fire TV Settings There are a couple of ways to display the Settings menu. Go to the gear icon in the header on the home screen. Or, pressing the Alexa voice control you can say, "Alexa, launch settings." Bluetooth Options You can connect an external device using Bluetooth. This might be useful if you want to add a remote control or use Bluetooth headphones with your Fire TV. Go to Settings > Controllers & Bluetooth Devices. Select Amazon Fire TV Remotes or Game Controllers to pair one of these devices. Select Other Bluetooth Devices and follow the instructions to pair your headphones, or receiver. Updates to your Fire TV Stick Operating System Amazon releases updates to the Fire TV operating system every few months so to get it Go to Settings > My Fire TV > About. Select Check for Updates. The Fire TV Stick will then check for updates. If an update is available, you'll be asked for confirmation to apply it. Q: Can I use Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi? A: Yes, an adapter is available from Amazon that allows Ethernet connection. Ethernet is faster and more reliable than Wi-Fi. How to setup, change or customize your Fire TV Stick Select the Settings icon (gear) on the main menu to manage your device settings: Network - Connect your Fire TV to the internet and manage your network settings. Display & Sounds - Adjust the screensaver, set the video resolution, change the audio output, or manage display mirroring, HDMI CEC settings, and more. Applications - Manage the settings for the Appstore and the apps installed on your Fire TV. Equipment Control - Manage how your Fire TV device interacts with your connected equipment. You can add and manage devices such as compatible A/V receivers or soundbars. Controllers & Bluetooth Devices - Add and remove compatible remotes, game controllers, and Bluetooth devices. Preferences - Manage Parental Controls, access your notification and privacy settings, or change the language and time displayed on your Fire TV. My Fire TV or Device & Software - Update the software on your Fire TV, view available storage, or perform device functions like restart, sleep, and reset to factory defaults. Accessibility - Turn on accessibility features such as: Explore Your Remote VoiceView High Contrast Text Closed Captions Account & Profile Settings - Manage which account your Fire TV is registered to. You can also select Sync Amazon Content to refresh the content on your Fire TV. Fire TV Profiles Fire TV profiles let you personalize certain features on the home screen for each profile on your device. Apps Select the Apps icon to find apps on your Fire TV.
