Cables Connections and explanation:

A VHF/UHF antenna is used to receive digital TV broadcasts.

1. Connect a RF coaxial cable (RG-6) from antenna to DTV converter box antenna input RF jack.

2. Connect a RF coaxial cable (RG-6) from DTV converter box RF "OUT TO TV" jack to the VCR RF antenna IN jack.

3. Connect a RF coaxial cable (RG-6) from VCR RF OUT jack to antenna IN jack on the RF Modulator box.

4. Connect a RF coaxial cable (RG-6) from RF Modulator "OUT TO TV" jack to the TV RF antenna IN jack.

5. Connect 1 RCA video cable (yellow) from DVD Player output to RF Modulator RCA input (yellow).

6. Connect 2 RCA audio cables (white and red) from DVD player to Audio Receiver RCA inputs (white and red). Use DVD inputs or CD inputs or AUX inputs.

Select the input you used to connect the 2 audio cables on the Audio Receiver when playing DVDs. This way the sound will go to the loudspeakers.

Why would you want this configuration?

o To view TV shows from digital TV broadcasts using analog TV.
o To record TV shows to VHS recorder.
o Play recordings to TV.
o Play DVD-Video to TV.
o Hear richer sound from broadcast TV or DVD movies amplified by audio receiver.

What can you do with this configuration?

o Watch TV, record TV shows and play back, Watch DVDs, Listen to movie or CDs using Audio Receiver with loudspeakers

What settings do you need for this configuration?
The DTV converter box will output your selected digital TV channel on VHF channel 3 or 4. The VCR therefore has to be set to channel 3 or 4. The VCR will output on channel 3 or 4 to the RF Modulator. The RF Modulator will output to the TV on channel 3 or 4 therefore the TV has to be set on channel 3 or 4.

TV Channels are selected on the DTV converter box using the remote control for the DTV box. The DTV converter box will output on channel 3 or 4 (VHF) using the RF cable connection. VCR must be set to channel 3 or 4 if using the RF coaxial connection.

Audio Receiver

Connect the white and red RCA audio cables into the Audio Receiver audio input ports. Use the CD or AUX or like inputs and switch the audio receiver to the input you connected so you pick up the correct source. Older audio receivers have a manual FUNCTION knob you turn to select the input source while newer receivers have an electronic knob or push buttons to select your source such as AUX. Do not use the Phono input.

If your receiver does not have enough audio inputs for all your sources, you can add an audio switchbox which allows several inputs and will output the selected source to a single audio connection to the receiver.

SPEAKERS

Most receivers have more than one set of speakers. A second set could be placed in another room. You only need to use one set so the speaker wire connects two speakers using 4 wires as shown, black (negative) to black and red (positive) to red.

POWERED SPEAKERS

Powered speakers are bookshelf size stereo speakers with a built-in amplifier and plug into an A/C outlet. They eliminate the need for a receiver but have limitations. Connect your source directly to the speaker using RCA audio cables. Adjust the volume with remote control.
